Craig Churchill is in his third year of teaching grade eight at Mitford
Middle School in Cochrane. He graduated from the University of Western
Ontario with his Bachelor of Education.
Craig grew up in Kamloops,
BC where he started playing volleyball in grade seven. After attending
Thompson Rivers University, he transferred to the University of British
Columbia to complete his Bachelor of Science degree in geological
sciences. He worked in the field for a few years for the BC Geological
Survey in northern BC and an exploration company in Honduras, Central
America. A change in careers found Craig working in sales in Toronto,
where he also played beach volleyball every chance he could. The
mountains of western Canada called him back west where he was the
western Canada sales rep for a number of years.
His dream of teaching and
coaching took him back to school to work in the education field. He has
coached junior high volleyball for three seasons and continues his 20
years of playing both indoor and beach volleyball. He is currently
becoming certified as a Level 1 volleyball coach where he hopes to put
his skills to use in developing young players and spreading his
enthusiasm for the sport of volleyball.
