The U18 Boys “Black” team lost a tough crossover vs. the Spartans but finished strong claiming 15th place in Division 1.  The U18 Boys “Red” team also had a great weekend finishing 4th in Division 2.

Dan has recently returned to the Calgary area where he grew up to teach at Bow Valley High School in Cochrane. Upon completing High School Dan enrolled into the Education program at the University of Alberta with a major in honours mathematics. Dan completed his program in 4 years and moved to Cochrane to pursue his job acceptance at Bow Valley High School. Throughout his degree and
his time as an educator Dan has coached many sports in a variety of disciplines. Dan continually recognizes the value, both extrinsic and intrinsic that athletes accumulate through dedicating time and effort to an athletic passion.

Growing up, Dan was always keen to participate in as many activities he could get his hands on. Dan played baseball, hockey, volleyball and golf from a young age into his late teens. He also participated in many High School athletics at Bowness High School such as Volleyball, Basketball, Football, Rugby, and Badminton.

Dan is in his second year as a coach for the Jaguars Volleyball Club at the U-18 boys level. He plans to continue to coach and develop the boys program in the area for the Jaguars

Landon Thompson is currently a teacher at Cochrane High School in Cochrane, AB.  Landon is a graduate from the University of Alberta with his Bachelor of Education Degree.

Landon grew up in Grande Prairie where he played hockey.  He was drafted by the Brandon Wheat Kings in the 1996 Bantam Draft.  He spent 2 years at Athol Murray College of Notre Dame in Wilcox, SK.  After graduating with honors he moved back home to attend Grande Prairie Regional College.  At this time he retired from playing and began his coaching career.  Landon spent the winters coaching hockey and the springs coaching volleyball.  Landon coached for two seasons with the Grande Prairie Minor Hockey association and two seasons with the Grande Prairie Wolves Volleyball Association, where his bantam boys won a provincial bronze and silver medals.

Landon Moved to Edmonton to finish his Education degree where he was named the head coach of the Edmonton Oilers Peewee Hockey team.  This is a team that is selected to represent the NHL franchise in the Tournoi international de hockey pee-wee de Québec.  He spent two seasons coaching with NAVC (Northern Alberta Volleyball Club) where his bantam boys won two consecutive bronze medals at Nationals.  Landon has also worked at Jasper Volleyball Camp, and Sylvan Lake Volleyball camp as an instructor.  Over the summer of 2006 Landon was the head coach for the Zone 2 Indoor girls volleyball representative at the Alberta Summer Games.

Landon is currently the co-founder and director for Canmore Volleyball Camp.  This is an outdoor summer volleyball camp for boys and girls ages 12-18 set in the beautiful Rocky Mountains.  Landon is a fully certified Level 2 hockey coach, Level 1 basketball coach, and is currently working towards his Level 3 Volleyball Certification.

Landon has coached Team Alberta U-16 Girls Provincial team 3 of the past 4 years.  He has collected a Gold medal (2011), Bronze Medal (2008), and a consolation title (2010) at the Western Canadian Elites.  Internationally, Landon’s Midget U15 team’s represented Jaguars Volleyball Club at the Volleyball Festival in Reno, NV (2007) and Phoenix, AZ (2009).
